Mindfulness for corporate incentives

Mindfulness:

A mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.

Mindfulness is not a new concept as it takes it origins from Buddhism, but we’ve certainly seen its use grow in clinical psychology and popular media. But can it really have a place in the corporate world and in corporate incentive trips?

We think yes. And here’s why.

Mindfulness can improve:

  • Attention – specifically stability, control and efficiency
  • Cognition – leading to better decision-making (greater consciousness in the present and decision-making under stress)
  • Emotions
  • Behaviour – improved interpersonal behaviour and working relationships through greater empathy and compassion
  • Physiology

Who doesn’t want employees who could improve on these attributes?!

Mindfulness in an incentive program

Your group could participate in a mindfulness workshop or mini yoga retreat as part of their incentive trip to Scotland. They’d learn about what mindfulness is (and isn’t), why and how to practice it and how to introduce it into a yoga flow. Because these sessions are tailor-made for the group, it could focus on client’s business goals, culture changes, employee wellness or even focusing on performance for the year ahead.

And we can get creative with the location of the workshop or retreat! It doesn’t have to be in a hotel function suite, but could be in a tipi in the woods, a tree house, on a Loch-side beach, or an exclusive private house.

Get in touch if you’d like to include mindfulness and/or yoga in your next incentive program.
