Scotland is a popular destination for incentive groups from Germany who are attracted to our breathtaking scenery, dramatic history and heritage. Whisky is a well-known tipple to visitors to Scotland, but artisan beer is giving this national drink a run for its money. Perhaps discerning guests who arrive in Scotland from Germany wouldn’t imagine that Glasgow has lured one of their countrywomen to stay here to brew premium beers; of which we are very proud. Petra Wetzel

Meet Petra Wetzel who is originally from Bamberg, the brewing town in Franconia nestled in Northern Bavaria, who started her quest for truly great Scottish beer with the launch of WEST Brewery in 2006. WEST brew all their beers in strict accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516, which Petra believes is simply the best way to make great beer. Since then WEST has been brewing the finest artisan lagers and wheat beers; now found across Scotland and the rest of the UK. Petra and WEST Brewery both have a Glaswegian Heart along with a Glasgow Head!

Templeton Building

The heart of WEST Brewery is perfectly at home in the iconic Templeton building that was once the site of the largest carpet manufacturers in the world (the Cunard fleet all carry Templeton carpets). Modelled on the Doge’s Palace in Venice, WEST boasts a beautiful beer hall, restaurant and beer garden all making for a stunning venue for incentive groups of any nationality. Incentive guests can enjoy lunch, dinner, a tour of the brewery or even beer tastings where fresh Scottish ingredients and German cuisine are matched with the tasty beers.
