With less than 6 weeks to go to the first IMEX America, I’ve taken a moment out of a hectic start to September to think about what I want to achieve from the show, and what I think will be important for both buyers and exhibitors alike.
Here's my thoughts....
Insight into the American MICE Market
The first aspiration that springs to mind is the hope that I’ll get a great insight into the American MICE market and what travel buyers are looking for. It’s been several years since I visited the US for business and the corporate landscape has changed massively since then.
You can read magazines, follow trends online, but when you really get a feel for what’s happening on the ground is when you speak to people in the industry. I’m looking forward to the buzz of discussions, chats and conversations that provide priceless information about our industry.
Meeting Clients Face-to-Face
Then my thoughts move to our clients and that I’ll have the opportunity to meet with them, especially with those whom I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting so far. It’s always great to put a face to the name and even better you get to discuss upcoming projects face to face!
Efficient Way of Doing Business
I know that the IMEX buyer appointment system is a new way of doing business in America. For years I’ve attended trade fairs across Europe that operate in this way. Personally I feel that it’s a fantastic way to do the maximum amount of business. If they register early enough, buyers are guaranteed meetings with exhibitors of their choice, and exhibitors know they will be speaking to people with a genuine interest in their products.
For those who are new to the appointment system I think it’s important that you choose your appointment carefully and plan your day efficiently. If the exhibitors you have appointments with contact you before IMEX, I’d recommend giving them a good indication of what you’re looking for so that they can be prepared – don’t forget, appointment times are short so time is precious! The more info you can share up front the better appointment you will have.
Sharing Scotland’s Passion
Scotland is famed for it’s heritage, culture and passionate patriotism. There’s no better way to experience this than to meet a true Scotsman! Wearing my kilt with pride I’ll be sharing my passion for Scotland and it’s huge variety of experience for MICE travelers with anyone who will listen!
You can visit me at the Destination Scotland Stand, number 808.
Warmest wishes from Scotland,
