As the Edinburgh festival gets underway this month, I though I’d share with you some of the other great events happening in Scotland this year that you can easily incorporate into an incentive or conference social program. Here’s 5 great events taking place from Aug – Dec this year...
14th Aug 2010
This is possibly the most major event in the piping world and typically attracts over 5,000 musicians (230 bands) from around the globe, including Canada, USA, Australia, India, Oman and Tokyo. It’s a great day out that culminates in a spectacular March Past of all the competitors.
Great for… Anyone looking for a relaxed day out in one of Glasgow’s parks, with great bagpipe music, cultural costume and lots of food and drinks!
11th Sept 2010
This returns to Glasgow for it’s 10th Anniversary to present the world’s best whiskies, with great entertainment and tasty food!
This is your chance to sample some of the best Scotch whiskies whilst learning about them straight from the produces, bottlers and brand ambassadors. Enjoy debates, demonstrations, tasterclasses and more – all under one roof!
Great for… A leisure afternoon or an alternative to traditional whisky tasting.
18th – 26th Sept 2010
The World Snooker Open returns to Glasgow for the 3rd year at the SECC. The 9-day event features snooker’s top stars and is closely followed by the world’s media.
The 2010 competition is an historic event, where for the first time, amateur players will participate in an official ranking event alongside the top players.
Great for… Anyone with an interest in Snooker, and those who want to spot a few world champs!
15th – 17th October 2010
The Rally of Scotland is the eleventh and penultimate round of the prestigious Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) that's broadcasted on Eurosport. Previous stages included Monaco, Belgium, Italy and Spain. The route will take in some of Scotland’s most iconic scenery through special Forestry Commission gravel roads in Stirling and Perth & Kinross. The route also features a ceremonial start and finish!
Great for… Those with an interest in cars, motorsports and the IRC. Attend as a spectator or choose a hospitality package for a little more luxury.
22nd - 24th Oct 2010
Celebrate Scotland’s rich food and drink heritage and culinary talent at this renowned food show. Highlights include plenty of ‘taste testing’ fresh local produce, sampling the best of British drinks and of course live cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay and James Martin!
Great for… An half or a full day out. If you enjoy cooking (or eating!) good food and drinks, this is a fantastic leisure activity for your incentive or conference group.
