The Canal Challenge

This April Hello Scotland, in partnership with Kingsfield Events, will be joined by friends, family and colleagues from the Scottish tourism industry in a challenge to cycle and canoe across some of Scotland's canals for water charity Just a Drop

The challenge will take place on the Forth, Clyde and Union Canals and teams will have to cycle a gruellig 55 miles and canoe 13 miles - a grand total of 68 miles across Scotland!

The Challenge is in aid of Just a Drop, who provide desperately needed fresh water solutions around the globe. We aim to raise £5,000 for their most crucial projects.

A child dies every 20 seconds because of a water-borne disease, and all it takes is just £1 to provide a child with safe clean water for 10 years.

Just a Drop recently completed a project in a village called Murere in Kenya - providing safe drinking water and sanitation facilities for two schools. This involed constructing rain water harvesting tanks and water collection gutters in the two school, and sanitary and urinal facilities. In total, 1,440 school children and 46 teachers benefited. They also ensured that WASH (Water & Sanitation Hygine) traning was giving to the children.

Right now, they are working on a very similar project in Kayenje, Uganda - And we can help!!

If you'd like to join our challenge or offer support on the day, we'd be delighted to send you more information about what's involved. Please contact Lisa for more information.

Of, if you can spare a few pounds or a few euros - every single penny/cent counts - we'd be thrilled if you could donate and sponsor our teams for this worthy challenge, by clicking on the donate button above.
