World Responsible Tourism Day 2011

Our 2011 pledge for WTM World Responsible Tourism Day:

9th November 2011

On the 9th November 2011 we're joining tourism professionals worldwide to campaign for more responsible and sustainable tourism across the globe - WTM World Responsible Tourism Day.

We believe that by uniting the travel and tourism industry, from the smallest of our suppliers, to the largest clients, together we can make a difference both in Scotland and across the world in our clients home countries.

In 2010 we focused on the sustainability of 'green tourism' and the effects of climate change.

This year we're looking at the impact we can make today in the sustainability of one of Scotland's most important attractions for social, economical and enviromental impact - The 200 year old Scottish Canals.

Get Involved!

The Hello Scotland team are pledging their support as canal volunteers on the 9th November in support of WTM World Responsible Tourism Day, and you can get involved too!

For our clients and partners across the world, share with us your efforts for responsible tourism; for our local suppliers and friends, join the Hello Team and other canal supporters for a special volunteer day organised by British Waterways Scotland on the 9th November 2011.

Hello Scotland have offered the support of up to 20 volunteers to the project which will involve removing overhanging vegetation from the offsite of the Union Canal.

The volunteer day will tack place at the Manse Road Basin in Linlothgow and will run from approximately 10am to 2pm, including lunch.
