1. REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE
Over the past 2 years, Hello Scotland has made significant steps towards becoming a paper-free office. This has improved our operations, our office overheads, our waste awareness and our impact on the environment.
A 'Going Green with Hello' supplier will have a 'behind the scenes' recycling policy, with higher level suppliers benchmarking their waste to track progress towards reducing waste and/or visibly advertising their policy to their customers.
2. ALL ABOUT CARBON (CO2)
For the past 2 years, Hello Scotland has gone through the process of measuring and offsetting our carbon footprint. We are looking into taking our carbon footprint measurement one step further, by incorporating our supply chain. In order to this, it is important to gauge our suppliers’ commitment to carbon management.
A 'Going Green with Hello' supplier will have a commitment to learning more about carbon reduction and offsetting, with higher level suppliers already on their carbon monitoring journey and some in partnership with a carbon offset body.
3. THE STAMP OF APPROVAL
Hello Scotland recognises the validity of outside creditors and was proud to have been awarded Silver in the Green Business Tourism (GTBS) back in 2008.
Whilst, not all of our supplier can achieve this (due to the framework not being relevant for everyone), it is a pioneering framework that is becoming an internationally renowned grading system and you can find out more about the GTBS here.
4. THINK GREEN, THINK CREATIVE
Hello Scotland prides itself on "thinking outside the box" - and more recently has introduced various green themed incentive ideas to our programs for clients. This is the start of engaging our clients in our green practices. With the help of our suppliers we could represent Scotland in a green and engaging way.
A 'Going Green with Hello' supplier is interested in working with Hello Scotland to create a sellable green product. Higher level suppliers may even already have something green in the pipeline, which Hello may be able to share with the incentive creators out there….so watch this creative space!
5. GIVING SOMETHING BACK
Hello Scotland is known as being a caring, generous and fair company and our environmental efforts have resulted in benefits to the environment around us.
For example, we went tree planting, donated office goods to charity and supported our local community with fundraising events. Often it is these 'behind the scenes' efforts that go unnoticed by a visitor to Scotland; we aim to share the efforts and commitment to society and the local environment that our suppliers have undertaken.
Higher level suppliers have a strong CSR policy and have communicated various initiatives that take place regularly within their organisation. These have ranged from giving used soap to homeless shelters, to giving their used clothes to charity.
